Is it too early to be setting my goals for 2013? They’re effectively new year’s resolutions – but we’re only half way through December.
Too bad if it is – I’m flying out out the country in a week and I don’t think I’ll be paying much attention to my fitness goals in the week leading up to 1 Jan. So, ladies and gentlemen, I present you with my thirteen new (endorphin-seeking) experiences for 2013:
- Run my first race
- Try a mixed martial arts class
- Try a pole fitness class
- Try a spin class
- Go skydiving
- Try a beginners/intro crossfit course
- Try a yoga class
- Try a pilates class
- Go bungy jumping
- Try indoor rock climbing
- Buy a bike
- Sign up for boot-camp style group training
- Try an aqua/pool-based fitness class
As you can see, it’s a bit of a taster plate of things to try. A sampler of fitness activities, if you will.
It highlights just how limited my fitness experiences have been to date – I feel like the only woman in the city who hasn’t at least taken a pilates class!
How can I really decide what I like, and what drives me if I haven’t tried much?
Don’t get me wrong, I like running – but how do I know I won’t love something more without trying more?
What are your plans or goals? Are there any new experiences on your 2013 to-do list?

It’s not too early. I planned my 2013 races in November. I do want to do a triathalon and maybe mountain climbing.
What a great list of new things to try! I love that idea, and might just have to make one of my own.
perfect timing. I’m thinking of doing an official list this week
That’s a great list…I think I will make one for myself
Sweet List. I think list lof new experiences is going to include riding a bike to work and possibly entering an amateur fitness competition.
Enjoy…plenty to work with, so have fun doing them!

All of these goals are great! It sounds like 2013 is going to be a great year.
Nice list – try bodybuilding too
Exhale Yoga on NE Alberta has a nice small/intimate “karma yoga” class on Fridays around noon that are great – karma meaning free
– then you can explore Alberta after for some great bites to eat!

I haven’t tried Pilates yet either, and water aerobics and water polo are my favorite workout classes
Water polo? I haven’t heard about that in years! (I tried out for my school team years ago… It didn’t go well)
