Do you remember when I was complaining about commenting on the new found static electricity when running on the treadmill?
Do you remember when I asked for your experiences, and ideas for what it was?
Well, you guys came up with a few really good suggestions. I’ve experimented with different combinations of running/machines/workout gear and I think I’ve narrowed it down…
Carpet under the treadmill? I don’t think so – I got a shock the other day while running outside, well clear of any carpet.
What about humidity? Maybe. I honestly don’t know – I have had no way to measure this accurately so I’ve kind of shrugged my shoulders and taken a “sure, why not?” approach.
Workout gear? I certainly noticed my older/cheaper/larger workout clothes moving around a lot more, and creeping up where you don’t want no bunching, but I didn’t notice any obvious correlation.
Then a friend casually pointed out it was probably my thighs rubbing together.
Guys, get this – It’s totally my thighs rubbing together. I tested it this evening – adjusting my stride to see what happened. The bigger the stride, the more movement above the knee and ZZZTTT!
The revolation, it’s (dare I say it?) shocking.
Yup. I said it.

Heh heh heh – I hear ya!
