Until I started investigating crossfit, I thought a burpee was just yet another childish way to describe a belch (Wikipedia’s kind enough to offer a minute long recording such an event here, though this You Tube video is much better).
Turns out someone tried to get creative and renamed a squat thrust. I recognised the move from school PE.
I recognised it.
That’s not to say I’ve ever done it.
Until now.
Richelle over at Iron & Health put together a great post showing readers how to do some of the basic moves in the crossfit workouts. Her post included both of these videos:
For me, the absolute beginner, the first video demonstration helped truckloads. The second served more as inspiration. I’d love to hang off the ceiling. You know, as you do.
So I followed their lead.
I learned how to do a burpee.
And did 10 more.
At the time, it kinda sucked.
Right now, it feels good.
I’ll let you know how it feels in the morning.
Perfect. Now I can link to this post from my post where I mention burpees. Thanks. Kim*

Burpees do suck! And you know what? They never, ever get any better.
I love burpees (but I also really hate them)!
