We had a good weekend away over at Martinborough, about an hour and a half out of the city. The Martinborough fair was on this Saturday. The fair, while it doesn’t have food made by fairies, it does see the entire town full of colourful stalls, tasty, tempting food, and people. Everywhere.
The town is built around the centre square. The roads lead in and out of the square like wheel spokes. Every street in towns lead in to the fair. Everyone turns up at the fair.
And the fair had a little bit of everything. We’re talking everything. Like animal bits, painted and ready to hang on your wall.

And, because it’s a town in the middle of farmland and wineries, perhaps the world’s most bored (boredest?!) horse.

It was good. We walked away with arms full of garden ornaments, salamis, hand spun and hand dyed NZ merino wool, jewellery, cheeses, and two of the tastiest cheesecakes you will ever have.
This weekend didn’t do a lot for my fitness, but it was definitely worth it.
So how’d your weekend go? For those of you in different time zones, how’s it going? Did you get the chance to do something a little out of the ordinary?
