Breaking It Down: The Progress Report

It’s been a little over a week since I posted my initial set of goals

    1. Go to the gym 10 times, for at least 30min a session.
I’m making progress with this – four sessions so far, with a good mix of both cardio and machine weights.
    2. Walk home from work (5.8km) 10 times
Good progress being made here, too. Three long walks home in the last week, with more planned over the next couple of days.
    3. Walk home at an average pace of 6km/hr
    Done – see!
    4. Workout with the rowing machine for more than 5 minutes (and be able to walk in a straight line afterwards).
Not yet, my friends. Not yet. Hovering around only 2 minutes comfortably, 3 minutes max.
    5. Run on the treadmill at the gym..
I tried it while I thought no one else was around, got a huge fright when a woman popped up beside me, and I accidentally sent my phone flying in the general direction of her head. So technically, yes, but not to great success. Note to self: get cheap clip on mp3 player for future gym use.
    6. Set up a personal training session.
Nope – but due for a freebie soon, I think…
    7. Buy new sports bra.
    Boom! Done.
    8. Try a group fitness class at the gym.
Sadly, no. I have no excuses.
    9. Get a drink bottle that does not leak.
Again, no. I’m still using the bottle that leaks from a kink in the plastic if you leave it on its side. Don’t judge me, I’m saving
    10. Set up a playlist of high energy gym music, at least 15 songs.
Yes! Done! And I love it.

There you have it – 4 goals down, and others well under way. Good progress so far. While the 4 completed goals will be replaced with new, exciting additions, they aren’t being published in this post. Why not? Because we want to savor the feeling of accomplishing these ones, don’t we?!

On a similar, though not technically related, note: this week has been very full on career-wise, too. As of this afternoon I have completed the first set of workshops/exams needed to get my professional accounting qualification (the exams, etc, we do once we are practicing in the workforce after our four years at university). If all goes well and pass marks come back in a few weeks then that leaves only one more year to go (naturally, the last year is by far the hardest). That makes 7 years in total, including university study. The finish line… It looks good.
