Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve done it. After several walks home I managed to get home at an average pace of 6.4km/hr. Slightly faster than my goal speed of 6km/hr.
Loving the free Map My Run iPhone app. That sucker tracks my walk on the map, average and current pace (based on GPS), and with a bit more gear can measure your heart rate and everything.
It even tracks when you take a short cut (naughty me – the walk should’ve been 5.8km, not sure how I knocked 300m off the distance). And the maximum speeds reached when you trip over your feet while jay walking and have to sprint like a fart in netting to get to the footpath before you’re hit by a bus. Or van. Not entirely sure what it was, but it got me moving. At approx 26.7km/hr.
Regardless, it’s another goal checked off the list.
But it begs the question – do you have any cool apps or things that help you keep track of your progress? Let us know if they’re worth trying (or something to avoid)!

Doh! Can you believe I own it but totally forgot? Too many apps, too little time?
I will definitely use it the next time I walk or run

Haha – me too! For a long time it just ‘the app next to Facebook’ on my phone. Reminders are always helpful!
